Job summary

WLG is hiring a backend engineer to design, build and operate cloud-based services for maritime geospatial analytics. The role is fully remote, spanning Sep to Dec, and involves end-to-end ownership from discovery to production.

You will develop production-grade APIs and microservices in Python, model the domain with DDD, integrate Neo4j, and build ML workflows on Databricks. Strong Python, FastAPI, and security experience are required.

Qualifications

• Advanced Python with clean idiomatic code, type hints and async patterns.
• Strong production experience with FastAPI and asynchronous best practices.
• Solid OO design using factory, strategy, repository and dependency injection.
• Practical Domain Driven Design including event-driven modelling.
• RESTful API design with OpenAPI, versioning and pagination.
• Experience with event-driven systems like Kafka, MQTT or Azure Event Hubs.
• Strong SQL skills (PostgreSQL/SQL Server) and Neo4j expertise.
• Docker, Kubernetes and Linux command line comfort.
• Testing/CI/CD with pytest, TDD and GitHub Actions or GitLab/Azure DevOps.
• Secure coding aligned with OWASP Top 10 and OAuth/OpenID/JWT.
• Excellence in written and spoken English in an international setting.

Responsibilities

• Designing and building production-grade APIs and microservices in Python.
• Modeling the domain with Domain Driven Design and bounded contexts.
• Integrating Neo4j for graph-centric work and graph data modelling.
• Building data engineering and ML workflows on Databricks.
• Working with geospatial and temporal data and standards.
• Ensuring services are reliable, fast, and secure and monitored in production.
