Job summary

WLG seeks an experienced backend engineer to design, build and operate cloud-native services for maritime geospatial analytics. You will own features from discovery to production, including APIs, data pipelines and ML workflows, in a fully remote setup from Sep to Dec.

You will work with Python, FastAPI, Neo4j and Databricks on a platform handling geospatial and temporal data at scale, focusing on reliability, security and clean architecture for a global collaboration.

Qualifications

• Advanced Python with clean idiomatic code and async patterns.
• Experience with FastAPI and async programming.
• Strong OO design and common patterns (factory, strategy, repository).
• Domain Driven Design with event-driven modelling.
• RESTful API design and OpenAPI specs.
• Experience with Kafka/MQTT or Azure Event Hubs.
• SQL skills (PostgreSQL/SQL Server) and Neo4j expertise.
• Docker and Kubernetes, Linux CLI proficiency.
• Testing/CI/CD with pytest and GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps.
• Secure coding (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT) and OWASP Top 10.
• Strong written and spoken English in international setting.

Responsibilities

• Design and build production-grade APIs and microservices in Python.
• Model the domain with Domain Driven Design, bounded contexts, aggregates and repositories.
• Integrate Neo4j for graph-centric work and optimise Cypher queries.
• Build data engineering and machine learning workflows on Databricks.
• Work with geospatial and temporal data, including indexing and standards.
• Keep services reliable, fast, secure and monitor them in production.
