Job summary

UST is seeking a Senior+ Software Design & Development Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software for client validation labs and automation infrastructure. You will work on backend services, REST APIs, automation frameworks, and engineering tools, while contributing to CI/CD and deployment automation.

The role involves collaboration with client engineering, validation, infrastructure, and support teams, mentoring juniors, and driving improvements across lab operations.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in software design and development.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and backend development.
• Experience building REST APIs, databases, automation frameworks, and engineering tools.
• Solid knowledge of OO design and software architecture best practices.
• Experience with Linux, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting.
• Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases.
• Experience integrating software with hardware or lab infrastructure.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving across software and system layers.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and mentor juniors.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Python applications, backend services, REST APIs, automation frameworks, and engineering tools.
• Build monitoring utilities, databases, workflow automation, and integrations for validation environments.
• Investigate complex interactions between software, hardware, and lab infrastructure.
• Develop scripts and automation to improve operational efficiency.
• Support CI/CD integration, deployment automation, and validation workflows.
• Administer and enhance engineering tools used across validation labs.
• Create reliable, scalable software based on requirements.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement recovery measures.
• Document system designs and recovery procedures.
• Collaborate with Client teams across engineering, validation, and support.
• Provide mentoring to developers and lab technicians.
• Identify automation opportunities for continuous improvement across labs.
