Job summary

CoreWeave is seeking a senior Optical Network Engineer to design, build, operate, and evolve our global optical backbone. You will work across the full optical lifecycle including dark fiber, photonic engineering, DWDM system design, deployment, capacity expansion, automation, and production operations.

You will collaborate with IP Backbone Engineering and Network Architecture to ensure the optical and IP layers are aligned for capacity, diversity, and resiliency, and you will mentor other

Qualifications

• Senior-level hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating large-scale production optical networks.
• Experience with dark-fiber networks including fiber characterization, loss budgets, OTDR testing and interpretation.
• Strong understanding of DWDM, coherent optics, ROADMs, EDFA and Raman amplification, OSNR and FEC performance.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer and operate long-haul, metro, and data-center interconnect optical networks.
• Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Nokia, Ciena and other optical platforms.
• Commission new fiber spans, wavelengths, and optical systems.
• Analyze span loss, reflectance, dispersion, OSNR, Q-factor, BER, and other optical metrics.
• Mentor other engineers and help establish technical standards for the optical network team.
