Job summary

Senior HSE Advisor - CON Package

Location: Gdansk, Poland

Start Date: 2nd November 2026

End Date: 29th October 2027 (Potential Extension)

Work Style: 14 Days On / 14 Days Off - 12-Hour Offshore Shifts

Role Objective

• Provide expert HSE knowledge and guidance on safe working practices, safety standards, and legal requirements.
• Identify and support the elimination of potential hazards, ensuring suitable control measures are established and maintained.
• Maintain expert knowledge of HSE best practice and applicable legislation, securing conformity through agreed processes and legal registers.
• Promote the development and effective use of management systems and a proactive, data-driven approach to risk management.
• Deliver reliable and timely HSE information through an analytical, structured, and collaborative approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive a positive and proactive HSE culture through visible leadership, engagement, data, awareness, knowledge sharing, and implementation of lessons learned.
• Support the development, implementation, and use of HSE systems, procedures, instructions, contingency plans, and associated documentation.
• Plan, facilitate, and participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, briefings, safety walks, inspections, HAZID and HAZOP workshops, and safety culture programmes.
• Monitor and assess internal and external HSE compliance and performance using digital tools for reporting and trend analysis.
• Liaise effectively with contractors at management and site levels to strengthen safety, health, and environmental performance.
• Participate in relevant site HSE meetings and internal and external audits, following findings through to effective closure.

Tasks

• Promote proactive reporting and high-quality data management to support evidence-based risk management.
• Support emergency response and crisis-management arrangements and audit or compliance activities aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 55001.
• Review HSE documentation, Risk Assessed Method Statements, and associated controls.
• Coordinate and report safety inspections, incident investigations, and root-cause analyses, including resulting observations, risks, and lessons learned.
• Follow up findings from HSE audits, inspections, and incident investigations and support implementation and closure of non-conformity reports.
• Report lost-time injuries to the HSE organisation in accordance with the defined process.
• Provide practical HSE advice to management, technicians, employees, client representatives, and contractors during daily activities.
• Maintain the validity of required safety and training certificates and proactively maintain competence for the role.

Deliverables

• Regular HSE meetings facilitated with contractors and package representatives.
• Reviewed Risk Assessed Method Statements and completed operational HSE assessments.
• HSE inductions for client representatives and HSE presentations at project kick-off meetings.
• HSE walk reports produced using the applicable digital inspection tool.
• Incidents and proactive measures recorded accurately in the reporting system.
• Additional deliverables completed in accordance with project QHSE risk-management processes and the management framework.

Project Documents

• HSE instructions, procedures, contingency plans, and emergency-response documentation.
• Audit, compliance-check, inspection, incident-investigation, and non-conformity records.
• HSE meeting records, RAMS reviews, operational assessments, induction materials, and training records.
• HSE reports, digital inspection tool records, and reporting system entries.

Decision Authority / Responsibility

• Act as an HSE subject-matter expert and contribute professional advice to operational and project decision-making.
• Provide recommendations based on understanding of the project, business, and interdependencies with other functions.
• Escalate material HSE risks, incidents, non-conformities, and control-measure concerns through the appropriate project and QHSE channels.
• Recognise that HSE ownership is shared across the organisation and that the QHSE function does not determine HSE performance independently.

Requirements

• Relevant academic or technical background and a recognised HSE qualification, including NEBOSH Level 3 or equivalent.
• Minimum three to five years of HSE experience, ideally within onshore renewables or offshore wind-farm construction.
• Demonstrable experience managing HSE interfaces with third-party contractors.
• Knowledge of root-cause analysis, incident investigation, HSE management systems, and applicable legal requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and presentation skills, including professional-level English.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills; experience with digital HSE reporting tools is advantageous.
• Current clean European driving licence.
• Full GWO qualifications and valid fitness-to-work certification, including the Chester Step Test.
• Valid HUET including CA-EBS and an Offshore Energies UK medical examination or recognised equivalent.
• Valid Polish occupational medical certification and Polish OHS/BHP training.
• QHSE degree, diploma, or equivalent Level 6 qualification is desirable.
• NEBOSH or IEMA environmental-management qualifications and qualified auditor status are desirable.
• Experience delivering training and supporting offshore construction activities is desirable; previous client experience is beneficial.
• Must comply with all required client training, medical, and background-verification requirements.

Working Conditions

• Offshore role based aboard a Jack-Up Vessel or Service Operations Vessel, operating a 14-days-on / 14-days-off rotation with 12-hour shifts.
• Transfers to and from the vessel will be by helicopter or Crew Transfer Vessel; helicopter transfers operate from Gdansk International Airport.
• Occasional visits to project offices in Warsaw and Gdansk, Poland, and other project or supplier locations may be required.
• Initial 12-month assignment with potential extension depending on project requirements.
• The client supplies the required work laptop. The consultant must provide an up-to-date iPhone and permit installation and management of the required security software.
