Job summary

Box is seeking a Senior i18n/l10n Engineer in Poland to design and implement robust internationalization frameworks and localization pipelines across web, mobile, and backend services. You will ensure products adapt seamlessly to languages, regional differences, and technical standards globally.

You will lead architecture and CI/CD integrations for localization, mentor engineers, and partner with UX to bake localization into early product lifecycles.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in i18n/l10n.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript; hands-on React experience.
• Deep understanding of Unicode, CLDR, ICU and BCP 47 locale codes.
• Experience with i18n libraries (i18next, react-intl, formatjs) and TMS (Phrase, Smartling, Transifex).
• Frontend localization challenges including RTL rendering, CSS logical properties, and font fallback.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain scalable i18n libraries and localization pipelines for web, mobile, and backend services.
• Refactor code to support dynamic locale switching, pluralization, gender, date/time/currency formats, and RTL layouts.
• Build/optimize CI/CD localization pipelines with resource extraction, TMS syncing, and build-time validation.
• Enforce high i18n coding standards, perform code reviews, and mentor junior engineers on global-readiness.
• Collaborate with UX designers to meet global design requirements early in development.
• Participate in on-call rotation to respond to localization issues.
