Job summary

SoftServe is hiring a senior full-stack engineer to design and deliver secure, scalable, cloud-native digital solutions for a leading European public sector organization.

You will shape architecture across the stack, implement front-end in Angular/React/Vue.js, back-end in Java/Spring/Node.js, and build RESTful APIs with OpenAPI. Docker/Kubernetes, AWS/Azure, and IaC experience are essential.

English or French proficiency (B2+) and strong collaboration across cross-functional teams are required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience with a university degree (master or bachelor) as described
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS for enterprise web apps
• Extensive front-end experience with Angular/React/Vue.js + Bootstrap/Webpack/Vite
• Backend expertise in Java/Spring Boot/Hibernate, REST APIs, Node.js or PHP
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL/Oracle) and non-relational databases (MongoDB)
• GIT workflows; SVN familiarity
• Cloud-native development on AWS or Azure; IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Bicep)
• APIs built with OpenAPI/Swagger, API management tools, and API gateways
• Containerized deployments with Docker/Kubernetes; CD/CI pipelines
• Security best practices: OAuth2/OpenID/JWT, secure data handling, auth, logging
• Distributed systems knowledge: Kafka, Axon Server, Elasticsearch
• Good communication, cross-functional collaboration, English or French (B2+)

Responsibilities

• Design and develop modern front-end architectures using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and frameworks (Angular, React, Vue.js)
• Build and maintain secure backend applications using Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Node.js, or PHP
• Create scalable RESTful APIs and web services with security and performance in mind
• Implement business-critical functionality following software engineering best practices and design principles
• Develop responsive, cross-browser web applications delivering great UX across devices
• Integrate distributed systems using API gateways, Kafka, Axon Server, and event-driven architectures
• Optimize application performance, database interactions, and reliability (relational and non-relational DBs)
• Establish CI/CD pipelines and manage cloud deployments with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Bicep
• Apply security best practices including authentication, authorization, input validation, secure data handling, logging, and monitoring
• Troubleshoot, test, debug, and continuously improve software to meet functional/non-functional requirements
• Produce technical documentation and share knowledge across teams
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure seamless front-end/back-end integration

About The Role

In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of secure, scalable, and cloud-native digital solutions for a leading European public sector organization. Working across the full technology stack, you will help modernize mission-critical platforms, influence architectural decisions, and build high-quality software that delivers measurable value to end users

Responsibilities

• Design and develop modern front-end architectures using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and contemporary frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.js
• Build and maintain secure backend applications using Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Node.js, or PHP technologies
• Create scalable RESTful APIs and web services while ensuring compliance with security and performance standards
• Implement business-critical functionality following software engineering best practices, coding standards, and design principles
• Develop responsive, cross-browser web applications that deliver an excellent user experience across devices
• Integrate distributed systems using API gateways, Kafka, Axon Server, and event-driven architectures
• Optimize application performance, database interactions, and system reliability across relational and non-relational databases
• Establish CI/CD pipelines and manage cloud deployments using Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Bicep

Requirements

• University degree corresponding to Level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework (which typically corresponds to a master’s level or 5 years of higher education), and minimum 10 years of IT professional experience; or University degree corresponding to Level 6 of the European Qualifications Framework (which typically corresponds to a bachelor’s level or 3 years of higher education) and minimum 12 years of IT professional experience
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for enterprise web application development
• Advanced experience with Angular, React, Vue.js, Bootstrap, Webpack, or Vite.
• Extensive backend development expertise using Java, Spring Boot 3.4.x, Hibernate, REST APIs, Node.js, or PHP
• Solid experience designing and optimizing relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Oracle, as well as non-relational databases including MongoDB
• Practical expertise with Git-based development workflows and familiarity with SVN environments
• Strong understanding of cloud-native application development and operations within AWS or Azure environments
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code solutions, including Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Bicep
• Proven ability to design, build, secure, and document RESTful APIs using OpenAPI and Swagger standards
• Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application deployments
• Advanced knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and modern identity management practices
• Demonstrated expertise with Kafka, Axon Server, Elasticsearch, and distributed system architectures
• Experience implementing API management solutions using WSO2 API Manager, Amazon API Gateway, Azure API Gateway, or Google Apigee
• In-depth knowledge of CSDR and its practical application within enterprise environments
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in multicultural, cross-functional teams
• Professional proficiency in English or French at B2 level or above
