Qualifications

• Designing, building and securing RESTful APIs and web services, with OpenAPI/Swagger
• Cloud services (AWS/Azure) and IaC tools for provisioning
• Experience with Git workflows and CI/CD integrations
• EU nationality is required; security-conscious mindset
• Strong English or French language skills (B2+) for collaboration

Job description

As a Full-stack Engineer, you will build and maintain web applications for our Client, a large European public institution, working across the front end, back-end services, the data layer, and their deployment in the cloud. You will own features end to end — from user interactions and API contracts through to server-side business logic and database interactions — with responsibility for their performance, security, and maintainability. The role involves access to sensitive data, so discretion and adherence to security practices are part of the everyday work.

Responsibilities

• Develop front-end website architecture, design user interactions on web pages, develop back-end web applications and implement core business logic, maintaining features across the entire stack from designing user interfaces and consuming APIs to implementing server-side business logic and database interactions
• Bridge the gap between front-end and back-end developers, facilitating communication and ensuring cohesive integration of all system components
• Design responsive applications, design and develop APIs, and participate in the design and creation of scalable software
• Write clean, functional code on the front and back end, and maintain code integrity and organisation
• Perform unit and integration testing, debug, fix and validate code changes, and compile and analyse data, processes and code to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement
• Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms using CI/CD pipelines and containerisation technologies
• Deliver solutions that fulfil functional and non-functional requirements and align with user expectations, and write technical documentation

Requirements

• A university degree at master's level (or 5 years of higher education) with a minimum of 5 years of IT professional experience; or a degree at bachelor's level (or 3 years of higher education) with a minimum of 7 years. All fields of study are accepted, including degrees not related to information technology
• Proficiency in Java, Node, or PHP back-end stacks, with experience of Spring Boot, Hibernate, and REST API development
• Proficiency working with both relational (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle) and non-relational (e.g. MongoDB) databases, including schema design and query optimisation
• Experience designing, building, and securing RESTful APIs and web services, including OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, and understanding of authentication and authorization protocols and standards (e.g. OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT)
• Knowledge of cloud services (e.g. AWS, Azure) with experience deploying and managing applications in a cloud environment, experience with IaC tools (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Bicep) for consistent environment provisioning, and knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with Git workflows (GitFlow, trunk-based), an understanding of legacy systems using SVN, and proficiency in integrating front-end and back-end builds into CI/CD pipelines
• EU nationality is required, as the role involves access to sensitive data
• Very good knowledge of English or French, both spoken and written, corresponding to Level B2 or higher (CEFR), with the capacity to ramp up quickly on new projects, collaborate within teams and take part in multi-lingual meetings, apply security and cloud best practices, and work both autonomously and as part of a team with a results-oriented mindset
