Job summary

FedEx Europe is seeking a Senior System Engineer (f/m) to act as the European SME for automated material handling control systems. You will define standards, drive roadmaps, and lead obsolescence and modernization programs across Europe, focusing on reliability and cybersecurity.

You will collaborate with Operations Technology, field engineering teams, and vendors, mentoring local System Engineers while aligning with European standards and ongoing predictive maintenance initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or Robotics.
• Several years of experience in automation, controls engineering, maintenance engineering, reliability engineering, or material handling systems.
• Subject Matter Expert in industrial automation technologies including PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, industrial networks, and material handling systems.
• Experience with CMMS/EAM platforms (Maximo, SAP EAM, IFS) and using maintenance data to drive reliability improvements.

Responsibilities

• Act as European SME for automated material handling control systems and provide advanced technical support during escalations.
• Define, maintain, and govern European standards, specifications, and best practices for PLCs, SCADA, and networks.
• Develop long-term roadmaps and lifecycle strategies to ensure reliability, cybersecurity, and standardization.
• Lead obsolescence, modernization programs, and replacements of PLCs, SCADA, and control equipment.
• Support predictive maintenance deployments using condition monitoring data to improve reliability.
• Review vendor designs and proposals for compliance with European standards and long-term strategy.
