Job summary

Oyster is seeking a seasoned Dutch payroll lead responsible for end-to-end payroll in the Netherlands, building scalable workflows, and setting payroll standards.

You will own data validation, compliance, and regulatory submissions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to continuously improve automation and accuracy. Fluency in Dutch and English is required, with a strong analytical mindset and remote-first experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years running native Dutch payroll end-to-end.
• Advanced hands-on AFAS and/or Nmbrs by Visma and/or Loket.nl experience is non-negotiable.
• PDL and/or VPS certification and/or NIRPA RSa registration; HBO in Business Admin/Finance valued.
• Deep knowledge of Dutch wage tax, social insurance, and labor law; ability to advise stakeholders.
• Dutch at C1/C2 and fluent English; comfortable in a remote-first environment.
• Analytical, productivity-focused mindset; experience building processes and automation.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving cross-functional change.
• Mentoring or coaching experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Run payroll end-to-end for the Netherlands, ensure accuracy, compliance and timeliness.
• Own master data validation for hires, terminations, salary changes, and benefits.
• Perform payroll controls and quality checks; investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Handle statutory filings and accesses with Belastingdienst and UWV requirements.
• Configure and maintain the in-house payroll system; test updates and partner with Product for automation.
• Advise on Loonheffing, Sociale verzekeringen, labour law, 30% ruling, and CAO interpretations.
• Oversee payroll journals, GL mappings, and data integrity; manage escalations.
• Produce statutory and ad-hoc reports to meet regulatory requirements.
