Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to help build an Agentic AI Platform. You’ll work on autonomous, tool-using AI agents that plan, reason, and execute complex business workflows in production. Lead architecture decisions for GenAI initiatives and mentor junior team members.

You will team with Data Engineers and ML engineers to deploy agentic solutions on Azure, implement guardrails, and improve model performance in high‑scale environments.

Qualifications

• Professional experience building LLM or GenAI applications in production.
• Hands-on with LangChain or LangGraph frameworks.
• Strong LLM application patterns including prompt engineering.
• Expert-level Python with API development (FastAPI).
• Experience with vector databases and embeddings (Azure AI Search, Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, FAISS, pgvector).
• Strong SQL skills and large-scale data experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and productionize multi-agent systems with planning and tool calling.
• Develop RAG pipelines end-to-end including embeddings and vector search.
• Integrate agents with enterprise systems via MCP or similar patterns.
• Build LLM evaluation frameworks and guardrails for governance.
• Fine-tune LLMs (LoRA/PEFT) and optimize models on Azure OpenAI/Azure Foundry.
• Own LLMOps/MLOps: experiment tracking, CI/CD, observability, drift monitoring.
• Collaborate with data engineers on data quality and governance across Azure Data Lake and Databricks.
• Mentor junior data scientists and lead reviews of code/design.
