Job summary

Simple Machines is seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to lead platform and architecture design. You will build greenfield data platforms, real-time pipelines, and data products for clients, working in small, high-calibre teams close to the problem and the client.

You will own end-to-end architecture, drive data mesh concepts, and deliver scalable, production-grade solutions using cloud services and modern data tools.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building modern data platforms and pipelines.
• Strong coding skills in Python and SQL with production-grade quality.
• Experience with cloud data services and data governance considerations.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end platform and architecture design for modern data platforms.
• Build and optimise batch and real-time data pipelines using streaming tech.
• Design scalable data ecosystems with data mesh, data products, and data contracts.
• Collaborate with clients to translate requirements into pragmatic engineering solutions.
• Mentor engineers and set standards for data quality and observability.
