Job summary

Simple Machines is seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to lead platform design and data pipelines. You will build cloud-native data platforms, real-time pipelines, and data products for clients who demand robust, scalable solutions.

You’ll work closely with clients, shape architectures (data mesh, data contracts), and mentor peers in a fast-paced consultancy setting. You’ll be responsible for end-to-end data platform delivery, governance by design, and ensuring production-grade reliability

Qualifications

• Hands-on senior engineering role responsible for technical direction and platform design.
• You will design and build greenfield data platforms, real-time pipelines, and data products for clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead platform and architecture design for cloud-native data platforms.
• Build scalable data ecosystems using data mesh, data products, and data contracts.
• Develop high-performance batch and real-time pipelines with Kafka, Flink, and related tech.
• Collaborate with clients to translate problems into pragmatic engineering choices.
• Own data storage and performance across Postgres, BigQuery, Snowflake, and more.
