Job summary

Aviva Services Excellence Centre in Warsaw is looking for a Date Engineering Technical Lead to shape Aviva's enterprise data foundations and lead a cross-functional team. You will build a cloud-native ODS platform, deliver event-driven pipelines, and mentor engineers to ensure quality and best practices.

You will guide development of Kafka/MSK pipelines and containerised microservices, driving delivery, CI/CD, testing, and observability across the stack.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering and platform delivery experience.
• Experience with Kafka/MSK and event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency in Java (Spring Boot) and/or Python.
• Experience building scalable data pipelines and microservices.
• Strong knowledge of ODS, data modelling and transformation patterns.
• Leadership experience guiding data/backend engineers.
• Strategic mindset with strong communication and planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of data and backend engineers.
• Break down architecture into implementable tasks and designs.
• Review code and drive engineering best practices.
• Act as go-to technical escalation point for the team.
• Guide development of Kafka/MSK based pipelines and containerised microservices.
• Ensure scalable, resilient, and high-performing systems.
• Drive CI/CD, testing, and observability standards.
• Implement end-to-end ODS data flows and integration patterns.
• Align to canonical data models and promote reusable patterns.
