Job summary

WP Engine is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Data Engineering organization and lead the finance data domain. You will own the pipelines, models, and validation that convert raw billing and financial data into trusted assets used by Finance, BI, and the broader business.

You will design dimensional models, govern grain and history, and collaborate across Finance, analytics, and product teams while applying software engineering best practices and AI tooling in a controlled manner.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of data engineering experience with end-to-end data assets.
• Strong SQL skills and ability to optimize complex queries.
• Deep data modeling experience for data warehouses.
• Proficient in Python or Go for ETL/ELT pipelines and automation.
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools and data workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve dbt models in UAM to turn raw financial data into trusted assets.
• Develop and optimize end-to-end data pipelines into BigQuery on GCP.
• Lead multi-sprint data initiatives and coordinate with Finance, BI, analysts, and product managers.
• Maintain data quality with strong metadata, lineage, and validation.
• Review code and mentor engineers; apply AI tools judiciously in production pipelines.
