Job summary

Monterail is seeking a DevOps / Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer for a freelance role to build observability and incident management for autonomous kitchen operations. The 4–5 month project is full-time and remote, offering independent work with minimal direction.

You’ll leverage AWS, Python, Terraform, and Jira Service Management to standardize incident workflows, automate runbooks, and deliver a scalable data-driven observability layer with Grafana.

Qualifications

• Senior-level AWS Cloud Engineer or SRE background.
• Strong focus on observability, monitoring, and alerting at scale.
• Hands-on Python for tooling and automation.
• Terraform for IaC experience.
• Proven end-to-end ownership of production systems.
• Ability to work independently without detailed specs.
• Experience with Jira Service Management is a plus.
• Grafana dashboards at scale is a plus.
• Exposure to AI-assisted ops tooling is a plus.
• Background in hardware/robotics/IoT fleets is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own Tech Ops Incident Management Platform using Jira Service Management across fleets.
• Automate incident resolution workflows with AI tooling, including runbook generation.
• Document all Tech Ops incident processes to ensure a clean handover.
• Build fleet management and task automation to support global 24/7 remote operations.
• Own and customize the data-driven observability layer via Grafana across all internal tech teams.
• Work closely with leadership to independently drive architecture decisions.
