Job summary

Monterail is seeking a DevOps / Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer on a freelance basis to build the observability and incident management backbone for autonomous kitchen operations. The contract is 4-5 months, full-time equivalent, and remote.

You will standardize the Tech Ops platform, automate incident workflows with AI tooling, and own the Grafana-based observability layer. Independent work style and strong AWS/SRE background are essential.

Qualifications

Senior-level experience as an AWS Cloud Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer.
Strong focus on observability, monitoring, and alerting at scale.
Hands-on Python for tooling and automation.
Hands-on Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
Proven track record of designing and owning production systems end-to-end.
Ability to work independently without a detailed spec sheet or heavy direction.
Experience with Jira Service Management or ITSM platforms is a plus.
Experience with Grafana dashboards at scale is a plus.
Exposure to AI-assisted ops tooling is a plus.
Experience in hardware/robotics/IoT fleet environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

Own the Tech Ops Incident Management Platform using Jira Service Management across production fleets.
Automate incident resolution workflows with AI tooling, including runbook generation and assignment.
Document all Tech Ops incident processes for a clean handover.
Build fleet management and task automation to support global 24/7 remote operations.
Own and customize the data-driven observability layer via Grafana across internal teams.
Collaborate with leadership to drive architecture decisions.
