Job summary

Volkswagen Financial Services (Poland) is expanding its European Data & Analytics Hub in Warsaw. You will join the Vehicle Data API Team to develop a central API platform delivering vehicle data across the VWFS group.

The role focuses on cloud-native API development, data ingestion pipelines, and automated data quality controls, with collaboration across business and tech teams. English and Polish required, hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, or backend development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python.
• Experience designing and developing APIs and microservices architectures.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT or data processing pipelines.
• Good understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and schema design (MySQL is a plus).
• Experience working with AWS cloud services.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud automation practices (preferably Terraform).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, ECS, or EKS.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, version control, and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools, preferably Datadog.
• Ability to work with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data formats (e.g., JSON, Parquet).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
• Experience working in Agile environments and using tools such as Jira.
• Strong communication, documentation, and knowledge-sharing skills.
• Customer-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Professional English and Polish language skills (C1 level).

Responsibilities

• Develop, operate, and continuously improve cloud-native APIs and microservices powering the Vehicle Data platform.
• Design, build, and maintain reliable data ingestion and processing pipelines.
• Implement and optimize automated data quality controls across multiple vehicle data sources.
• Ensure high availability, stability, and performance of production services.
• Troubleshoot incidents, resolve technical issues, and support operational processes such as Incident, Problem, and Service Request Management.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to design efficient data-driven solutions.
• Contribute to the evolution of the platform architecture, engineering standards, and best practices.
• Support CI/CD automation, monitoring, and observability of the platform.
• Drive continuous improvements in agile ways of working and engineering processes.
• Participate in an on-call rotation when required (up to 12 days per year).

This strategic initiative is created to enable the change of Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) to a data-driven company. Our goal is to empower all VWFS business units to use data effectively, efficiently and compliantly in their business decisions.

D&A originally has been set up as central HQ function located in Germany. To strengthen D&A’s international profile and to cope with the increasing demand for D&A’s services, the European D&A Hub has recently been established in Warsaw, Poland. The teams in both locations work closely aligned to deliver outstanding data products and services for international data use cases at VWFS group.

As part of the Data Foundation, you will join the Vehicle Data API Team (VDA), responsible for a central API platform that provides vehicle data across the entire Volkswagen Financial Services Group. You will work on modern cloud-based solutions, helping to ensure reliable, scalable, and high-quality access to vehicle information used by multiple business units and products.
