Job summary

Volkswagen Financial Services Poland is expanding its European Data & Analytics HUB in Warsaw. You will join the Vehicle Data API Team responsible for a central API platform delivering vehicle data across VWFS.

You will develop and operate modern cloud-based services to ensure data is reliable, accessible, and of high quality for stakeholders. The role involves building APIs and data pipelines, participating in CI/CD, and contributing to Agile practices within cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in software engineering, backend development, or data engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Python development.
• Experience building or maintaining APIs and microservices.
• Experience working with AWS cloud services.
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines.
• Understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and schema design (MySQL a plus).
• Experience with CI/CD tools, version control, and automated testing practices.
• Familiarity with Datadog or other observability solutions.
• Experience with JSON, Parquet, and structured/semi-structured data formats.
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and cloud orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Basic IaC understanding (Terraform).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proactive and collaborative.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain APIs and microservices that support the Vehicle Data platform.
• Support operation and continuous improvement of production services and data products.
• Build and enhance data ingestion and processing pipelines.
• Implement automated data quality checks and monitoring mechanisms.
• Participate in incident resolution, troubleshooting, and operational support activities.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Help ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of data products in production.
• Contribute to CI/CD automation, testing, and deployment processes.
• Support continuous improvement of engineering practices and Agile ways of working.
• Participate in an on-call rotation when required (up to 12 days per year).

This strategic initiative is created to enable the change of Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) to a data-driven company. Our goal is to empower all VWFS business units to use data effectively, efficiently and compliantly in their business decisions.

D&A originally has been set up as central HQ function located in Germany. To strengthen D&A’s international profile and to cope with the increasing demand for D&A’s services, the European D&A Hub has recently been established in Warsaw, Poland. The teams in both locations work closely aligned to deliver outstanding data products and services for international data use cases at VWFS group.

As part of the Data Foundation, you will join the Vehicle Data API Team (VDA), responsible for a central API platform that provides vehicle data across the entire Volkswagen Financial Services Group. In this role, you will contribute to the development and operation of modern cloud-based services, helping to ensure that vehicle data is reliable, accessible, and of high quality for consumers across the organization.

• Basic understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and tools (preferably Terraform)
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
• Good communication, documentation, and knowledge‑sharing skills
• Customer‑oriented mindset and willingness to work closely with internal stakeholders
• Professional English and Polish language skills (C1)

Nice to have:

• Experience or strong interest in the automotive, mobility, connected vehicle, or telematics domain
• Familiarity with vehicle data platforms or data integration projects
• Experience working in Agile teams using Jira and related tools
• Knowledge of SAFe or other scaled Agile frameworks
• Exposure to cloud‑native architectures and modern software engineering practices
