Job summary

Balyasny Asset Management L.P. invites a Senior Cloud Engineer in Warsaw to shape cloud strategy, architecture, and automation, collaborating with developers and platform teams.

You will mentor the Cloud Engineering team, design and manage AWS and GCP environments, Kubernetes offerings, and tooling with a focus on security, reliability, and cost optimization.

The role includes on-call rotations, rapid delivery of solutions, and contributing to open‑source projects and internal platforms.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience architecting large-scale, highly available services on public clouds.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes platform, cluster lifecycle, security, and managed offerings.
• Strong DevOps mindset and platform engineering practices.
• Experience with immutable infrastructure and infrastructure automation tools.
• Cloud-native security practices and tooling expertise.
• Moderate programming capability for infra (Python/Go).
• Strong Linux administration and networking knowledge.
• Familiarity with Hashicorp Vault and cloud cost optimization.
• Experience with Kubernetes on-prem is a plus.
• Open-source contributions are valued.

Responsibilities

• Mentor Cloud Engineering team members and drive self-managed projects.
• Architect and manage BAM's public cloud environments (AWS, GCP).
• Design and automate Kubernetes offerings and managed cloud services.
• Collaborate with developers and stakeholders on cloud solutions.
• Ensure consistency between on‑prem and cloud platforms for end users.
• Write code to automate deployment of infra and apps (Python/TF/Go).
• Develop self-service access to cloud services for stakeholders.
• Implement and support apps on cloud/Kubernetes platforms with observability tools.
• Integrate platforms with Grafana/Prometheus; champion new trends.
• Stay current on cloud/Kubernetes developments and participate in on-call rotation.
