Job summary

Vattenfall is seeking a Cloud Architect to shape the cloud strategy and build scalable, secure Azure-based platforms. You will design and govern enterprise-grade cloud solutions, contribute to governance models, and guide migrations of critical applications while aligning with a digital transformation agenda.

Based in a European setting, you will collaborate with security teams, application teams and external partners to enable Zero Trust principles, landing zones and cross-team standards.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of experience designing and implementing cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Ability to explain cloud concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and govern enterprise-grade cloud platforms and infrastructure in Microsoft Azure.
• Define architecture standards and reference architectures for cloud adoption.
• Support migration of business-critical applications to Azure.
• Design Azure Landing Zones, management groups and policy-based governance.

Your role

As Cloud Architect at Vattenfall, you will guide the design and evolution of cloud and infrastructure solutions, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure. You will help shape enterprise-wide cloud standards, governance frameworks and architecture principles while supporting both cloud-native development and the migration of existing applications. This is an opportunity to influence cloud adoption at scale, work with modern enterprise technologies and contribute directly to Vattenfall's digital transformation journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and governing enterprise-grade cloud platforms and infrastructure solutions in Microsoft Azure
• Defining architecture standards, reference architectures and best practices for cloud adoption
• Supporting the migration of business-critical applications to Azure using modern architectural principles
• Designing and implementing Azure Landing Zones, management group structures and policy-based governance
• Collaborating with application teams, security specialists and external partners to ensure scalable and secure solutions
• Driving cloud security initiatives based on Zero Trust principles and Microsoft security frameworks
• Contributing to hybrid platform architectures integrating Azure, SAP ERP, Kafka and other business-critical technologies

Qualifications

You are an experienced cloud professional who enjoys collaborating across teams and transforming complex technical challenges into practical and sustainable solutions. You combine deep technical expertise with strong communication skills and can explain cloud concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Cloud Security Expertise

• Strong understanding of Azure networking, identity management and cloud security
• Experience guiding enterprise-scale application migrations to Azure
• Experience implementing Azure Security Baselines and secure-by-design architectures
• Experience applying Zero Trust Architecture principles
• Practical knowledge of Entra ID, Azure RBAC, Privileged Identity Management (PIM) and Conditional Access
• Understanding of cloud compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001/27002, GDPR and the EU AI Act

Frameworks & Standards

• Experience working with Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF)
• Solid knowledge of Azure governance, management groups, policies and landing zones
• Knowledge of Azure Well-Architected Framework (WAF), especially Security and Operational Excellence
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Cloud Security Benchmark (MCSB) and Microsoft Defender for Cloud
