Job summary

N-able Technologies Ltd. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Cove Data Protection product engineering team. You will work on a cloud-first backup solution, evolve platform components, and contribute to the Rust codebase, while collaborating with an international team.

You will design scalable services and APIs powering data protection at scale. The role emphasizes high-performance backend work, automated testing, code reviews, and continuous improvement in a hybrid, flexible

Qualifications

• Strong professional experience developing software in C++
• Interest and willingness to learn and work extensively with Rust
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles and modern development practices
• Experience designing scalable, maintainable, and high-performance applications
• Strong knowledge of design principles and patterns, including SOLID and test-driven development practices
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, or cloud-native applications
• Experience with automated testing (unit, integration, and end-to-end testing)
• Understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and security fundamentals
• Experience with relational databases and data persistence technologies
• Familiarity with REST APIs and modern service-oriented architectures
• Experience with containerized environments and cloud platforms is a plus
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Learn, contribute to, and gradually take ownership of services developed in Rust
• Participate in the modernization of existing platform capabilities and architecture
• Design and implement scalable APIs and distributed system components
• Help define and deliver valuable, testable, and maintainable user stories
• Write high-quality, well-tested code supported by automated unit and integration tests
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex production and performance issues
• Contribute to performance optimization, reliability improvements, and system scalability initiatives
• Collaborate with engineers across multiple teams to deliver strategic platform enhancements
• Create and maintain technical documentation
