Job summary

EPAM Systems in Poland is seeking a Senior AI & Agentic Systems Engineer (Java) to join our enterprise Java and AI initiatives.

You will design, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications, integrate LLMs, and build autonomous agent workflows on Java/Spring Boot, collaborating with data scientists and product teams.

This role offers a hybrid work model with three days in the Kraków/Wrocław/Gdańsk offices and opportunities to work abroad for up to 60 days annually.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional software development with a strong Java backend focus
• Solid experience with Spring Boot for enterprise apps
• Proven experience in designing and developing REST APIs
• Experience in AI Agents development or LLM integration
• Experience with Spring AI or LangChain4J frameworks
• Prompt engineering techniques for reliable LLM behavior
• Working knowledge of Python for AI/ML scripting
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP)
• Strong software architecture understanding and cross-functional teamwork
• Proficiency in English (B2+)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications and agentic systems on Java/Spring Boot backends
• Integrate LLMs into enterprise apps ensuring reliability, scalability, and security
• Architect autonomous AI agent workflows capable of reasoning, planning, and multi-step tasks
• Design and build RESTful APIs between AI components and ecosystems
• Evaluate and integrate AI frameworks/tools (e.g., Spring AI, LangChain4J) to accelerate features
• Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and product teams to productionize AI concepts
• Develop and refine prompt engineering strategies to optimize LLM outputs
• Contribute to AI system design, model orchestration, and data pipelines
• Participate in code reviews for AI and backend quality
• Stay current with AI landscape and advocate adoption of new tools/patterns
• Mentor team on AI integration patterns and agentic development
