Job summary

EPAM Systems in Poland is seeking a Senior AI & Agentic Systems Engineer (Java) to join our team. The role blends enterprise Java development with cutting-edge AI, focusing on autonomous, AI-powered applications built on robust Java/Spring Boot backends.

You’ll integrate LLMs, design agent workflows, and collaborate with data scientists and product teams to deliver scalable, secure AI solutions. This is a hybrid role with office days in Kraków, Wrocław, or Gdańsk.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional software development with a strong Java backend focus
• Proven experience with Spring Boot and REST APIs
• Experience with AI agents or LLM integration and Java AI apps
• Familiarity with AWS/GCP cloud for AI workloads
• English proficiency (B2+)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications and agentic systems on Java/Spring Boot backends
• Integrate Large Language Models into enterprise-grade apps
• Architect autonomous AI workflows enabling reasoning and multi-step task execution
• Build RESTful APIs connecting AI components with broader ecosystems
• Evaluate AI frameworks (Spring AI, LangChain4J) to accelerate development
• Collaborate with data scientists and product teams to translate AI concepts into production solutions
• Develop and refine prompt engineering strategies for reliable LLM behavior
• Influence architectural decisions on AI system design and data pipelines
• Participate in code reviews to ensure maintainable AI and backend code
• Stay current with AI landscape and advocate new tools and patterns
• Mentor team members on AI integration patterns
