Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking an experienced SAP Java Team Lead to drive scalable, cloud-based SAP initiatives for global clients. You will lead architecture, design, and delivery across SAP technologies with a focus on Java-based microservices and modern cloud-native patterns.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, mentor engineers, and ensure robust, secure, and scalable solutions while navigating Agile processes and DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• SAP expert with strong knowledge of BTP, ABAP, Fiori, HANA, Integration, OData, SAPUI5, ERP, Java and S/4HANA.
• Cloud-native solutions within and beyond SAP ecosystem experience.
• End-to-end ERP/S/4HANA understanding and business processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable solutions using SAP and cloud technologies
• Contribute to end-to-end implementation of SAP systems, including integrations and extensions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with client needs
• Translate business requirements into technical designs and actionable development tasks
• Ensure best practices in software development, including performance, security, and maintainability
• Support continuous improvement through Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
• Engage with clients to provide technical guidance and build strong working relationships
• Participate in knowledge sharing and contribute to the team’s technical growth

Requirements

• Several years of experience as an SAP expert with strong knowledge of technologies such as BTP, ABAP, Fiori, HANA, Integration, OData, SAPUI5, ERP, Java, and S/4HANA
• Solid understanding of modern cloud-native solutions within and beyond the SAP ecosystem
• Expertise in ERP and/or S/4HANA with a good grasp of end-to-end business processes
• Strong background in Java and Spring Boot, focused on building scalable and robust applications
• Familiarity with microservices architectures and event-driven design principles
• Comfortable working in Agile environments with practical DevOps knowledge (CI/CD, automation)
• Customer-oriented mindset combined with the ability to work independently and within a team
• Willingness to travel occasionally for client projects
• Strong communication and presentation skills in English; knowledge of German is considered a plus

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Knowledge of SAP BTP, CAP, Fiori, or UI5 is considered a plus, with opportunities to upskill
• Exposure to additional SAP products
• Interest in AI-driven SDLC processes
