Job summary

Focus is a digital services firm delivering impact in the civic tech space. As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will own the reliability, deployability, and observability of complex government platforms running in secure environments.

You will build and maintain infrastructure as code in Terraform, design CI/CD pipelines, establish monitoring practices, and recommend SLOs to define and support system health.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in SRE, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure engineering.
• Production Terraform experience with modules and state management.
• CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
• Scripting in Python, Go, or TypeScript.
• Observability with DataDog, CloudWatch, Grafana, or Prometheus.
• Docker, ECS, Kubernetes experience.
• Familiarity with FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, or ATO processes.
• Support for legacy modernization or cloud migrations.
• AWS GovCloud familiarity and observability tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and security scanning.
• Define and track SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets for services.
• Implement observability through metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, alerts.
• Lead incident response and blameless postmortems; participate in on-call rotation.
• Troubleshoot distributed systems across infra, app, and network layers.
• Embed security and compliance, including vulnerability management and secrets.
• Automate operational toil with Python/Go/TypeScript scripts.
• Serve as a technical advisor to client stakeholders.
• Mentor teammates through code reviews and runbooks.
