Job summary

SeaRenergy Offshore Holding GmbH is seeking an experienced SCADA Systems Engineer to support a major offshore wind development project in Northern Europe. The freelance role is primarily remote with regular travel within the EU as required.

You will design, configure, and implement SCADA systems for offshore wind assets, review architectures and interfaces, coordinate integration with turbines, substations, and control centers, and ensure cybersecurity and standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or comparable discipline.
• Experience with SCADA systems in offshore wind, substations or industrial infrastructure.
• Fluent English; additional European languages are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineering, configuration, and implementation of SCADA systems for offshore wind assets.
• Review SCADA architectures, network concepts, and interface documentation.
• Coordinate SCADA integration between wind turbines, offshore substations, export systems, and onshore control centres.
• Define and review signal lists, data-point mappings, alarms, events, controls, and interfaces.
• Support the integration of PLC, RTU, HMI, historian and related control systems.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements, communication standards, grid-code requirements, and client specifications.
• Review communication protocols and interfaces (IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, Modbus TCP, OPC UA).
• Support factory, site and system integration testing, commissioning and handover activities.
• Investigate and resolve SCADA communication and performance issues.
• Coordinate technical activities with OEMs, contractors, package managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Review supplier documentation and monitor closure of technical comments and non-conformities.
• Prepare test procedures, commissioning documentation, technical reports and as-built documentation.
