Job summary

DataKind is seeking a hands-on IT Operations & Security Lead to own day-to-day IT operations for our remote team and office. You will partner with the Compliance & Security Director to maintain SOC 2 readiness, manage devices, access controls, and IT budgets, and help ensure strong security hygiene across the organization.

Qualifications

• SOC 2 audit experience or ISO 27001 familiarity.
• 5+ years in IT operations or systems administration.
• Direct experience supporting SOC 2 audits and evidence collection.
• Strong knowledge of Windows, MacOS, Linux; IAM, MDM, SaaS admin.
• Clear communication with non-technical colleagues.
• Ability to prioritize between urgent tickets and compliance deadlines.
• Experience creating documentation and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day IT operations for the office and teams.
• Administer Google Workspace and SaaS apps.
• Manage user accounts, access controls and device lifecycles.
• Oversee endpoints (MDM, patching, encryption, config).
• Provide helpdesk support and create self-service docs.
• Manage IT vendors, licenses and budget; flag renewals.
• Assist testing and evaluation of tech services.
• Support process improvements and operational enhancements.
