Job summary

Calan is seeking a Railcar Production Quality Expert (Poland) to oversee quality on new railcars produced for our European operations. The role involves visiting supplier workshops across Europe, inspecting production lines and wagon assembly, and ensuring adherence to technical specifications.

You will verify information from manufacturers, prepare acceptance reports, and coordinate with the RPQM, purchasing, and quality teams to address any issues found during reception and testing.

Qualifications

• Wagon maintenance knowledge including welding, sandblasting and painting.
• Ability to manage pressure from manufacturers and validate wagons.
• Experience with ERP systems and related IT processes.

Responsibilities

• Visit supplier workshops across Europe to assess production quality.
• Monitor and evaluate production lines and wagon assembly against standards.
• Ensure compliance with specifications and verify manufacturer data sheets.
• Prepare and deliver acceptance reports per procedures.
• Alert RPQM about abnormal activities in workshops and coordinate with teams.
• Identify defects and report non-conformities to manufacturers and QA leads.

Our client is cooperating with more than 50 certified workshops in Europe to produce railcars , and is looking for a Railcar Production Quality Expert to assess the quality of the new railcars produced for them.

Responsibilities

• Visiting the workshop of the suppliers in all Europe.
• Monitoring and evaluating production lines and wagon assembly in accordance with relevant processes and standards.
• Ensuring compliance with agreed specifications.
• Verifying technical information provided by manufacturers and conducting cross-checks of data sheets/wagons.
• Preparing and delivering acceptance reports as per established procedures.
• Alerting the Railcar Production Quality Manager about any abnormal activities observed in the workshop, including issues related to workers or the environment.
• Identifying defects and reporting non-conformities to manufacturers, ensuring appropriate handling by their quality departments in coordination with the RPQM.
• Overseeing project progress on-site, collaborating with manufacturers, the new build expert, and the purchasing department for reception planning and follow-up.
• Providing technical support to the claim coordinator and facilitating communication with manufacturers to address any issues effectively.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of wagon technicalities, including maintenance schemes, welding standards, sandblasting, painting, and mechanical assembly.
• Ability to effectively manage pressure from manufacturers seeking validation of wagons and engage in constructive dialogue with them.
• Proficiency in using various informatics tools, ERP systems, and processes relevant to the role, with a keen eye for detail.
