Hitachi Energy in Kraków, Poland, invites a Researcher with expertise in power grid stability modeling to join our research center. You will develop and validate numerical simulations to enable future power grids, collaborating with a global team of researchers and engineers to translate concepts into prototypes and practical applications.

The role emphasizes multidisciplinary modeling, exploration of optimization, ML/AI techniques, and dissemination through publications and patents.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Control and Automation or related field.
• Experience developing mathematical models of electric power systems.
• Experience designing and running numerical simulation algorithms for power systems.
• Proficiency with PSCAD, PowerFactory, ATP, MATLAB/Simulink or similar.
• Programming experience beyond Python (C#, C++, Java, Rust).
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Propose, contribute to and lead research projects creating mathematical models and numerical simulations to analyze grid reliability and stability.
• Collaborate with a global team of researchers and engineers to solve real-world challenges.
• Propose and develop ideas and prototypes for numerical simulations with business impact.
• Develop concepts for combining mathematical/physical models with optimization, machine learning and AI.
• Take a multidisciplinary approach to numerical simulation and implement novel algorithms.
• Network within the company and share knowledge and expertise.
• Collaborate with external partners including universities and startups.
• Disseminate results in publications, patent applications, and technical reports.
