Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Łódź is seeking an R&D Engineer specialized in electrical transient simulations to join the Next Generation Grids Transformers team. You will work on medium voltage transformer and power converter technologies in an international environment.

You will contribute across the full R&D lifecycle—from concept to testing and product launch—while developing modelling tools and ensuring specifications and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, with R&D experience desired.
• Strong background in distribution system and transformer transient analysis, modeling, and simulation.
• Good knowledge of grid-connected power converters and switching behaviour, with modelling experience.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and Python; experience with Simulink, PLECS, LT Spice, EMTP.
• Experience with finite element tools (Ansys/Comsol) is a plus.
• Strong English communication and ability to work in international teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop design rules for transformer and converter applications to mitigate interaction failures.
• Create and validate medium- and high-frequency models to predict system behaviour.
• Collaborate with customers during specification to meet requirements.
• Provide technical support to quality departments.
• Study overvoltage phenomena and transient effects on electrical systems.
• Use FEM and Matlab to analyze resonance and reconfiguration.
• Own work packages and deliver results with structured approaches.
• Contribute to IP and risk management in R&D.
