Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Lodz, Poland seeks an experienced R&D Team Manager to lead the Next Generation Grids Transformers team. You will manage an eight-plus engineers, drive development of advanced technologies, and own project delivery in a global environment.

You will provide technical leadership, contribute to strategy, and collaborate with cross-functional teams worldwide, while scaling lab capabilities and driving innovation.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Several years of industrial experience in product development or technology management.
• Strong technical background in transformers and power converters.
• Proven experience in project management within R&D or product development.
• Experience in leading technical teams (line or project leadership).
• Experience working in international and cross-functional environments.
• Strong communication skills in English and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and motivate an international R&D team of 8+ engineers with expertise in distribution transformers, power converters and lab testing.
• Provide technical leadership and support the team in solving complex engineering challenges.
• Contribute to R&D strategy and technology direction, including roadmaps for the New Generation Grids Transformers product line.
• Plan, drive, and deliver R&D projects with alignment to scope, timelines and quality targets.
• Collaborate closely with global R&D teams, engineering functions, and external partners.
• Manage project resources and budgets to maximize impact and efficiency.
• Oversee site laboratory and infrastructure, including expansion plans.
• Foster collaboration, growth, and an innovation mindset; introduce new tools and processes.
