Job summary

SoftServe in Poland is seeking a Senior Manual QA Engineer to ensure quality in large-scale grant and expert management systems in a European public-sector setting. You will test complex workflows across applications and integrated systems, collaborating with analysts, developers, and support teams to deliver reliable releases.

Responsibilities include defining plans, managing test data, executing varied testing types, and validating API/backend with SoapUI and SQL.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in any field with 5+ years IT experience and strong manual software testing expertise.

• Prepare and manage complex, realistic test data and apply exploratory testing techniques.
• Execute functional, regression, integration, UAT and end-to-end testing across complex workflows.
• Track TEST, INT, and PREPROD environments supporting test execution.
• Perform API and backend validation using SoapUI, SQL, XML, and Kibana.
• Capture test results, logs and evidence; manage tests/defects in Jira and Zephyr with traceability.
• Collaborate with business analysts and developers to resolve issues.
• Support test reporting and progress tracking with visibility of execution and quality risks.

About The Role

As a Senior Manual QA Engineer, you will ensure the quality of large-scale grant and expert management systems in a European public-sector environment. You will test complex business workflows across applications and integrated systems, working closely with business analysts, developers, and support teams to deliver reliable, high-quality releases.

Responsibilities

• Define test plans, scope, priorities, scenarios, and test cases, validating user stories, acceptance criteria, business logic, dependencies, and edge cases
• Prepare and manage complex, realistic test data and apply exploratory testing, equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, and static/dynamic testing techniques
• Execute functional, regression, integration, UAT, and end-to-end testing across complex grant and expert management workflows
• Track TEST, INT, and PREPROD environments, monitoring deployments, availability, and downtime to support effective test execution
• Perform API and backend validation, using SoapUI, SQL, Oracle SQL Developer, XML, structured data, and Kibana to investigate application behaviour
• Capture test results, screenshots, logs, and supporting evidence; manage tests and defects in Jira and Zephyr with full traceability
• Collaborate with business analysts to clarify requirements and expected behaviour, working with developers and support teams to resolve issues
• Support test reporting and progress tracking, providing clear visibility of test execution, defects, dependencies, and quality risks

Requirements

• Master’s degree or equivalent in any field, with 5+ years of professional IT experience and strong manual software testing expertise
• Strong test planning/design and acceptance criteria validation, including exploratory testing, equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, and static/dynamic testing
• Experience with Jira and Zephyr for test/defect management and SoapUI for API testing
• Strong SQL skills, including Oracle SQL Developer and complex queries for test data preparation and backend validation
• Experience with Kibana for log analysis and XML/structured data using XML Notepad, Notepad++, or similar toolsBasic Selenium experience for test execution support and ability to troubleshoot application, API, database, and log layersExperience with Agile/Scrum, good knowledge of grants and audit business processes, and familiarity with ChatGPT or Generative AI for test case optimization
• Strong documentation, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
• English or French proficiency at B2 level or higher
