Job summary

SoftServe is seeking a Lead Manual QA Engineer to support large-scale grant and expert management systems in a European public-sector setting. You will lead testing efforts, craft test plans and ensure quality releases across systems.

You will work closely with business analysts, developers, and support teams, performing functional, regression, and end-to-end testing, and mentoring junior testers. Fluency in English or French at B2 level is expected.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent with 10+ years in IT.
• Strong experience in manual software testing.
• Experience validating acceptance criteria and test design.
• Experience with Jira and Zephyr for test management.
• API testing with SoapUI.
• SQL skills with Oracle SQL Developer.
• Logs analysis with Kibana.
• XML handling with XML Notepad/Notepad++.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum.
• Good documentation and communication skills.
• English or French at B2 level or higher.
• ISTQB CTFL and related certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define test plans, test cases, scenarios, and priorities.
• Validate user stories, acceptance criteria, business logic, and edge cases.
• Prepare and manage complex and realistic test data.
• Apply exploratory testing and boundary value analysis.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, UAT, and end-to-end testing.
• Track TEST, INT, and PREPROD environments, including deployments and uptime.
• Capture test results, screenshots, logs, and evidence.
• Track defects in Jira and Zephyr with severity and priority.
• Collaborate with business analysts to clarify requirements.
• Support test reporting and progress tracking.

You will focus on functional, regression, integration, UAT, and end-to-end testing, working closely with business analysts, developers, and support teams to ensure high-quality releases.

Responsibilities

• Define test plans, test cases, scenarios, scope, and priorities
• Validate user stories, acceptance criteria, business logic, dependencies, and edge cases
• Prepare and manage complex and realistic test data
• Apply exploratory testing, equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, and static/dynamic testing techniques
• Perform functional, regression, integration, UAT, and end-to-end testing
• Track TEST, INT, and PREPROD environments, including deployments, availability, and downtime
• Capture test results, screenshots, logs, and supporting evidence
• Track tasks, defects, severity, priority, workflow, and traceability in Jira and Zephyr
• Collaborate closely with business analysts to clarify requirements and expected behavior
• Support test reporting and progress tracking

Requirements

• Master’s-level university degree or equivalent with 10+ years of professional IT experience; degrees in any field are accepted
• Strong experience in manual software testing
• Strong knowledge of test planning, test design techniques, and acceptance criteria validation
• Experience with Jira and Zephyr for test and defect management
• Experience with SoapUI for API testing
• Strong SQL skills, including Oracle SQL Developer and complex queries for backend validation and test data preparation
• Experience analyzing application logs using Kibana
• Experience working with XML and structured data using XML Notepad, Notepad++, or similar tools
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Ability to troubleshoot across application, API, database, and log layers
• Familiarity with ChatGPT or Generative AI for test case optimization
• Strong documentation, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
• English or French proficiency at B2 level or higher
• Holding Certifications ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL), ISTQB Agile Tester, ISTQB Mobile Application Tester ( an advantage)
