Job summary

Cavendish Professionals is seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer (Test Automation Specialist) to drive automation strategy for a major European media client. You will own QA across frontend and API layers, modernize the automation suite, and architect a unified testing framework from scratch.

The role emphasizes API testing with Postman/Newman, UI automation with Cypress or Playwright, and collaboration with engineering and product teams in a fully remote setup.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial experience in UI Automation and API Automation in Agile environments.
• Experience with Cypress or Playwright for UI Automation and Postman/Newman for API Automation.
• Experience designing or improving test automation frameworks from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of manual and automated testing with a focus on scaling automation coverage.
• Design, automate, and maintain API tests using Postman and Newman within CI/CD pipelines.
• Architect a unified UI and API automation framework to reduce fragmentation and regressions.
• Derive test cases and acceptance criteria from codebase analysis and Jira descriptions in low-document environments.
• Present and justify automation architectures to engineering and product stakeholders.

Job description

We are looking for a hands-on, proactive Quality Engineer (Test Automation Specialist) to join our client, a global consulting leader, driving the architecture and modernization of a core enterprise portal for a major European Media company. In this role, you will take technical ownership of quality assurance across both frontend and API layers, modernize automation suites, and help architect a unified testing framework from the ground up to replace outdated legacy architectures.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Taking end-to-end ownership of both manual and automated testing, with a strong focus on scaling test automation coverage across the platform.
• Designing, automating, and maintaining API testing suites using Postman and Newman within active CI/CD pipelines.
• Architecting a unified UI and API automation framework from scratch to streamline regressions and eliminate test fragmentation.
• Operating effectively in an environment with minimal formal legacy documentation - deriving test cases and acceptance criteria directly from codebase analysis and Jira descriptions.
• Presenting, advocating for, and justifying test automation architectures and technical choices to engineering and product stakeholders.

What We're Looking For:

• Proven commercial track record (3+ years for Medior / 5+ years for Senior) delivering balanced manual and automated testing in Agile environments.
• Solid understanding of API testing, contract verification, and pipeline automation using Postman and Newman.
• Familiarity with modern web architectures: React frontend ecosystems, Java backends, and cloud microservices (AWS Lambda, Amazon SQS, Azure).
• Consultant mindset: excellent analytical skills, clear presentation capabilities, and the confidence to guide engineering teams on test strategy and best practices.

Must-Haves:

• 3+ years of commercial experience in UI Automation (Cypress or Playwright) and API Automation (Postman / Newman).
• Demonstrated experience designing or improving test automation frameworks from scratch.
• Very good English communication skills for daily cross-functional collaboration.

• 100% Remote working model (Candidates must be tax resident and based in Poland)
