Job description

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Test Automation Engineer to lead quality engineering initiatives for a modern cloud-native platform built on Microsoft Azure. This role requires strong expertise in Python-based test automation, modern testing practices, and AI-assisted engineering.

You will own the test automation strategy, drive quality engineering excellence, and work closely with developers, product owners, and DevOps teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and high-performing applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the overall quality and automation strategy for cloud-native applications built on Azure.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using Python and modern testing tools.
• Convert user stories and acceptance criteria into executable BDD scenarios and promote TDD and testable design practices.
• Automate risk-based testing across:
• Unit Testing
• API Testing
• Contract Testing
• Integration Testing
• End-to-End Testing
• Accessibility Testing
• Regression Testing
• Build and execute automated tests using Playwright (preferred) or similar frameworks.
• Validate applications across React-based frontends, REST APIs, PostgreSQL databases, messaging systems, Azure data services, and distributed architectures.
• Implement robust automation for event-driven and microservices-based applications.
• Integrate automated quality gates within GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Drive continuous improvements in test reliability, diagnostics, reporting, and flaky test reduction.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to establish reusable quality standards and best practices.
• Leverage GitHub Copilot, AI-assisted development, custom agents, reusable skills, and intelligent workflows to accelerate automation delivery while ensuring governance and code quality.
• Mentor developers and QA engineers on automation, testing standards, and quality engineering practices.

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Have Skills

7+ years of experience in Test Automation and Quality Engineering

Strong hands-on programming expertise in Python (Mandatory)

Extensive experience with Playwright for:

• Web UI Automation
• API Testing
• Mocking and Service Virtualization
• Tracing and Debugging
• Parallel Execution
• Advanced Reporting

Strong experience in:

• REST API Testing
• Microservices Testing
• Contract Testing
• Integration Testing

Hands-on experience with:

Strong understanding of:

Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

AI-Assisted Engineering & Modern Quality Practices

The ideal candidate should have practical experience using:

You should be able to effectively validate AI-generated code, maintain deterministic test assertions, protect sensitive information, and apply secure engineering practices.
