Black Swans Exist GmbH is seeking a senior microbiology leader to own and grow the microbiology laboratory within a large-scale biotech manufacturing facility. You will shape department operations, develop your team, and drive improvements impacting product quality across GMP-regulated environments.

You'll lead testing for raw materials, ingredients, and environmental monitoring, ensuring compliance with GMP, GLP and international standards.

Qualifikationen

• 5–10+ years in a large-scale GMP environment
• Proven people leadership and team development
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Microbiology, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, or related field

Overview:

Take ownership of a microbiology laboratory within a large-scale biotech manufacturing facility, where you'll have the opportunity to shape how the department operates, develop your team and drive improvements that have a direct impact on product quality.

You'll lead an established microbiology function, combining scientific expertise with people management and strategic decision-making. Rather than focusing purely on day-to-day laboratory activities, you'll have the opportunity to improve processes, strengthen compliance and develop the capabilities of your team.

This is a permanent position offering long-term stability and the opportunity to build your career within an international pharmaceutical organisation. Whilst we cannot reveal the full location here, there is an entire ecosystem from drug substance to drug product manufacturing being built here, meaning there is both stability and long term progression opportunities locally.

What you’ll do

You'll take responsibility for the microbiology laboratory, overseeing testing activities covering raw materials, pharmaceutical ingredients and environmental monitoring while ensuring compliance with GMP, GLP and international regulatory requirements.

Leading and developing your team will be a central part of the position. You'll have the opportunity to improve laboratory performance, introduce more efficient ways of working and build a culture where people are encouraged to develop professionally.

You'll also play an important role in audits, inspections and investigations, working closely with manufacturing, quality and regulatory teams to maintain high standards and support continuous improvement.

What you’ll need

• Around 5–10+ years of experience, ideally in a large-scale GMP environment. Strong microbiology expertise is necessary.
• People Management Experience
• Degree in a related field such as Microbiology, Pharmacy, Biotechnology etc.
• Fluency in English
• Able to relocate within the EU (We will explain more during the first conversation, it is not based in Poland)
