Job summary

Persistent Systems seeks a Python Developer to design and build scalable backend systems using cloud-native microservices. You will create robust RESTful APIs, containerized services, and deploy on Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms.

The role requires 5+ years of Python experience, strong knowledge of distributed systems, and hands-on DevOps with Docker and Kafka. Hybrid work model in Cracow is available, with emphasis on secure auth and scalable data access.

About Position:

We are seeking a highly skilled Python Developer to design and build scalable, high-performance backend systems leveraging modern cloud-native and microservices-based architectures. This role focuses on developing robust RESTful APIs, building containerized applications, and deploying solutions on Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms.

The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Python development, distributed systems, and event‑driven architectures, along with hands‑on experience in containerization and modern DevOps practices.

What You'll Do:

• Design and develop scalable RESTful APIs and backend services using Python.
• Build and maintain enterprise-grade microservices architectures
• Develop and manage event‑driven applications using Kafka or Pub/Sub systems
• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, SSO)
• Containerize applications using Docker and deploy on Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms
• Design and integrate with relational and NoSQL databases
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to enable CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
• Ensure system performance, scalability, and reliability
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and architectural improvements
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production and distributed environments

Expertise You’ll Bring:

Strong proficiency in Python for backend development

Experience building REST APIs and web services

Solid understanding of microservices architecture and design patterns

Cloud‑Native & Containerization

Hands‑on experience with Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift

Understanding of cloud‑native application design principles

Experience with messaging systems such as Apache Kafka and Pub/Sub frameworks

Knowledge of asynchronous processing and event‑driven system design

Security & Identity

Experience implementing OAuth 2.0 and Single Sign‑On (SSO)

Strong understanding of secure API design and authentication workflows

Database & Persistence

Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)

Ability to design efficient data models and optimize queries

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with distributed systems and high‑throughput applications
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Familiarity with service mesh, observability, and API gateways
