Job summary

Spencer Ogden invites a proactive Project Manager to lead large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across Poland. You will guide delivery from award to commissioning, ensuring safety, schedule, budget, and high technical standards.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in energy storage or grid-scale infra, strong stakeholder management, and fluency in Polish with good English. Travel across Poland is expected.

Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Project Manager to lead the delivery of large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across Poland.

From contract award through to commissioning and handover, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.

This role suits someone with strong engineering knowledge, excellent stakeholder management skills, and a proven track record in delivering grid-connected renewable energy or energy infrastructure projects in Poland.

You will work closely with EPC contractors, grid operators, local authorities, and landowners, playing a key role in the delivery of utility-scale energy storage projects in one of Europe's fastest-growing renewable energy markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage tendering, procurement, and contract scopes with EPC contractors, grid connection partners, and other suppliers
• Oversee construction delivery, ensuring compliance with Polish permitting requirements, building regulations, and grid connection conditions
• Coordinate grid connection activities with PSE and relevant Distribution System Operators (DSOs), ensuring compliance with applicable grid codes and technical requirements
• Monitor project budgets, schedules, risks, and contractor performance
• Coordinate stakeholder meetings, site activities, and project reporting
• Ensure compliance with Polish HSE regulations, construction law (Prawo budowlane), and environmental requirements
• Manage commissioning, grid energisation, handover, and project close-out
• Support dispute resolution, contract variations, and technical/commercial negotiations with contractors

About You

• 5+ years' experience in project delivery within energy storage, solar PV, renewable energy, or grid-scale infrastructure
• Strong understanding of construction, grid connection, and commissioning phases of utility-scale energy projects
• Experience working with EPC contractors, Polish grid operators (PSE/DSOs), and local authorities
• Good understanding of Polish permitting processes, grid connection requirements, and construction regulations
• Knowledge of construction contracts (FIDIC or equivalent) and variation management
• Comfortable using project management tools such as Gantt charts, financial tracking, and reporting systems
• Excellent communication skills, with fluency in Polish and a strong working proficiency in English
• Collaborative, commercially aware, and solutions-driven approach
• Willingness to travel across Poland for project site visits and stakeholder meetings
