We are looking for an experienced Power BI Administrator to manage and optimise our Microsoft Power BI environment, ensuring a secure, reliable, well-governed and high-performing BI platform.
You will be responsible for Power BI tenant administration, governance and security, data connectivity, performance monitoring, user support and change management. The role will work closely with BI developers, business users, infrastructure, database and network teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain the Microsoft Power BI Service, including tenant settings, workspaces, capacities and gateways.
- Manage Power BI Premium, Microsoft Fabric and Pro licensing requirements.
- Implement and maintain Power BI governance, security and access controls, including RLS, OLS and workspace permissions.
- Conduct access reviews, entitlement audits and support compliance with security and data governance policies.
- Install, configure and maintain On-Premises Data Gateways.
- Troubleshoot data refresh, connectivity and performance issues.
- Monitor capacity utilisation, platform health, dataset refreshes and service performance.
- Optimise reports, datasets, workspaces and Power BI capacity usage.
- Provide L2/L3 technical support to Power BI users and developers.
- Support deployment pipelines, environment promotion, releases and configuration changes.
- Develop user guidance, training materials, knowledge articles and operational documentation.
- Support backup, recovery, business continuity, audits and compliance activities.
- Proven experience administering Microsoft Power BI Service in an enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of Power BI tenant administration, workspaces, capacities and gateways.
- Hands‑on experience with Power BI security and governance, including RLS, OLS and workspace permissions.
- Experience managing or supporting Power BI Premium/Fabric environments and licensing.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across data refresh, gateways, connectivity and performance.
- Experience monitoring and optimising Power BI capacity and platform performance.
- Understanding of enterprise data security, privacy and governance requirements.
- Experience providing L2/L3 support and working with technical and business stakeholders.
- Strong documentation, communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Microsoft certifications such as PL-300, DP-600 or related Microsoft certifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric administration.
- Experience with Power BI deployment pipelines and CI/CD processes.
- Knowledge of Azure, SQL Server and enterprise data platforms.
- Experience supporting Power BI audits, compliance reviews and access governance.
- Experience delivering Power BI user training and governance awareness sessions.
- PowerShell or other scripting experience for administration and automation.
