Job summary

Betway Group is seeking a Manager Software Engineering to own DevOps, platform engineering, and CI/CD across its estate. You will lead design and build of a mature Kubernetes platform on‑prem and in Azure, driving automation, security gates and scalable deployment patterns.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with development and data teams, and shape cloud and container strategies to accelerate delivery and expand into new markets. A hands‑on, delivery‑minded leader is required.

Responsibilities

• Own CI/CD and platform standards.
• Design, build and own central CI/CD pipelines across the estate.
• Standardise build, test, release and rollback patterns including blue‑green and canary deployments.
• Codify infrastructure and configuration as code, embedding automated quality, security and compliance gates.
• Establish observability, monitoring and alerting as first‑class parts of the platform.
• Build and run Kubernetes on‑prem and Azure.
• Lead the design and build‑out of new Kubernetes infrastructure on‑prem, with Azure AKS option.
• Containerise existing workloads onto a modern, automated container platform.
• Apply sound architecture patterns at scale, keep transactional data outside the cluster.
• Deliver automatic horizontal scale‑up/down to follow demand.
• Prove it through lab → PoC → limited production → migration gates.
• Lead, align and enable teams; act as platform owner and technical authority.
• Partner with development, data and infrastructure teams to coordinate toolchains and reduce deployment toil.
• Mentor engineers and raise automation maturity across teams.
• Shape platform decisions on streaming, caching, data tiering and build‑vs‑buy.
