WP Engine, a global WordPress technology company, is seeking a Software Engineer in Platform Engineering to build and operate a large-scale cloud platform. You will own backend services and contribute to distributed systems while collaborating with senior engineers to shape architecture.

The role emphasizes production ownership, AI-assisted tooling, and modern cloud environments (GCP/AWS). You will work across Go, PHP, Ruby, or Python in a mixed technology landscape.

Qualifications

• Solid fundamentals and hands-on experience building backend services or web platforms.
• You should be proficient in Go or other backend languages and learn new technologies quickly.
• Experience with cloud environments (GCP or AWS), containers, and IaC tools.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, deploy, and maintain backend services and platform capabilities.
• Develop and integrate APIs using established service and architecture patterns.
• Work with relational databases and ensure reliable data access.
• Operate services across cloud and container environments with CI/CD and IaC.
• Use logs, metrics, and traces to diagnose production issues.
