ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for amid-level Network Engineer for the Global BIT Infrastructure team. The infrastructure team’s mission is to manage business-critical global networks and applications at scale. We are supporting internal tools & systems that everybody at OLX is using.
The Network Engineer contributes to the stability, scalability, and continuous improvement of OLX's global corporate network. Working within the BIT Infrastructure team, this role takes ownership of key network domains while collaborating with both junior and senior engineers. The Network Engineer bridges day-to-day operations with longer-term improvement initiatives, playing an active role in shaping reliable, secure, and efficient network solutions that support OLX's operations across 10 countries. Our long-term vision is to embrace cloud networking capabilities and network infrastructure automation.
What you will be doing:
- Own the design, implementation, and maintenance of LAN/WAN infrastructure across global office locations, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Manage the security of network services and systems, including firewalls, VPNs, and access controls, to protect OLX's corporate environment.
- Identify and troubleshoot complex network problems - including WiFi, VPN, and WAN issues - conducting root-cause analysis and driving resolution.
- Monitor network health proactively, identifying potential threats, analysing anomalies, and leading the response to network incidents.
- Participate in the change management process for network infrastructure and applications, assessing the security and operational impact of proposed changes.
- Maintain and enforce security compliance standards across all network devices and tools, identifying gaps and proposing remediation.
- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and project documentation.
- Drive automation initiatives to improve the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of network operations, leveraging scripting and infrastructure-as-code tooling.
- Act as a point of reference for junior engineers, providing guidance and supporting their technical development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams - including IT Operations, Security, Infrastructure, and Engineering - to deliver integrated and reliable solutions.
- Participate in on-call rotations and support schedules, taking ownership of escalated network issues when required.
What are we looking for:
- Solid hands-on network engineering experience with enterprise office network setup, including working experience with Meraki and Cisco stack
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, BGP, VLANs/Spanning Tree, firewalls, routing)
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, or Bash); experience with Terraform/Ansible and AWS networking capabilities is a plus
- Understanding of CI/CD tools (Gitlab CI/CD, GitHub Actions); familiarity with ITIL practices and ITSM tools (Jira, ServiceNow) is desirable.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted tooling and low-code/no-code automation platforms.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across systems and environments.
- Experience contributing to or leading automation and process improvement projects.
- Clear and effective communicator, able to produce high-quality technical documentation and engage confidently with stakeholders.
- Collaborative and dependable team member, capable of supporting junior colleagues and working across disciplines.
- Proactive, ownership-driven mindset with strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement attitude.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, distributed, and evolving technical environment.
