Job summary

Demant Poland, Szczecin, is seeking a people leader for Software Solutions to guide three teams totaling around 20 engineers. You will drive development of regulated medical device software and help modernize the platform with AI-supported development.

You will lead people through organizational change, hire and retain top engineers, and push for improved flow, testing and automation; a strong focus on collaboration across Product Owners, Scrum Masters and architects will be required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of people leadership in software development, ideally across several teams.
• Strong understanding of the software development life cycle from requirements to release.
• Experience with Agile and Lean ways of working (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
• Proven track record of growing engineers under your leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead three teams (≈20 engineers) with regular 1:1s, development and career conversations, feedback, performance evaluations and promotions.
• Hire, develop and retain strong engineers, building teams people want to stay in.
• Translate engagement survey results into concrete action plans and execute them.
• Know your teams' work end-to-end and remove obstacles in requirements, testing and releases.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, architects and ART leadership in SAFe; bring proposals and decisions.
• Run purposeful meetings with clear agenda and follow-up actions.
• Drive improvements in software flow, test automation and AI-supported development.
• Grow as a leader and demonstrate it through your work.

Job description

We are looking for a people leader to join Software Solutions in Szczecin. You will lead three teams (around 20 engineers) building fitting software used by hearing care professionals worldwide. This is regulated medical device software.

We are in the middle of real change. We are modernizing our platform and technology stack, adopting AI-supported development, and changing how we work to improve flow: fewer handovers, less work in parallel, quality built in from the start. We need a manager who leads people through this change, not one who watches it from the side.

What you will do:

• Lead your people: regular 1:1s, development and career conversations, feedback, performance evaluation and promotions. You start these conversations; you do not wait to be asked.
• Hire, develop and keep strong engineers, and build teams people want to stay in.
• Turn engagement survey results into a concrete action plan and follow it through.
• Know your teams' work: what they deliver, and how requirements, testing and releases move through the system. Ask good questions and remove obstacles.
• Work with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, architects and ART leadership in our SAFe setup. Bring proposals and decisions, not only opinions.
• Run meetings with a clear purpose, agenda and follow-up.
• Drive improvement in how we build software: flow, test automation and AI-supported development.
• Keep growing as a leader and show it in how you work.

What you bring:

• 3+ years of people leadership in software development, ideally across several teams.
• A solid, practical understanding of the software development life cycle, from requirements to release. A background as an engineer, tester or architect is welcome.
• Experience with Agile and Lean ways of working (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe), and your own view on what works and what does not.
• Concrete examples of people who grew under your leadership.
• Ownership and initiative: you act early, before problems become escalations.
• Clear, structured communication in English and Polish.
• Comfort working in a multi-site, cross-cultural organization.
• A degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have:

• Experience with regulated software (medical devices or similar).
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development or test automation.
• Familiarity with .NET or web technologies.
