Job summary

Standard Chartered in Poland seeks a Lending Documentation Coordinator to support Non-Standard and Standard Documentation across Corporate, Commercial & Institutional Banking. Qualifications

  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills, able to liaise with stakeholders across jurisdictions.
  • Good knowledge of international loan and security documentation standards (LMA, LSTA, APLMA).
  • Good knowledge of bank products (Project & Export Finance, Leveraged & Acquisition Finance, Shipping Finance, Subscription Finance, CRE).
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support regional Lending Documentation Unit leadership to set strategy and direction regionally.
  • Handle Non-Standard Documentation review for complex or syndicated loans, ensuring compliance with credit approvals and policies.
  • Draft and negotiate local and global guarantees and security documents.
  • Coordinate with internal legal and external counsel, ensuring sign-offs and approvals for facilities and limits.
  • Act as a business partner and point of contact for escalations and process integration.

The Lending Documentation Coordinator position is primarily responsible for supporting various business units with the Non-Standard Documentation process and, where applicable, the Standard Documentation process, in accordance with the Credit Documentation Process – General Roles and Responsibilities, and any further guidance provided by the Global Head of the Lending Documentation Unit (LDU).

Job Description

The Lending Documentation Coordinator position is primarily responsible for supporting various business units with the Non-Standard Documentation process and, where applicable, the Standard Documentation process, in accordance with the Credit Documentation Process – General Roles and Responsibilities, and any further guidance provided by the Global Head of the Lending Documentation Unit (LDU). This is a critical role supporting multiple business units across Corporate, Commercial & Institutional Banking and ensuring client delivery through the effective management of Non-Standard and Standard Documentation processes. Working closely with the Regional Head of the Lending Documentation Unit (LDU), the role provides a broad and holistic view of transaction management challenges and requirements across the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Regional Head, Lending Documentation Unit (LDU), to set and implement the vision, strategy and direction for the Lending Documentation Unit regionally, consistent with the vision and strategy for LDU Global and in support of the Group's strategic direction and growth aspirations.
  • Responsible for Non-Standard Documentation Process, which includes:
    • Reviewing/checking bespoke / externally prepared loan documentation for complex, structured or syndicated transactions.
    • Ensuring the financing structure and documentation is in compliance with the terms and spirit of the relevant credit approval and the Bank’s policies and procedures (including Operational Risk).
    • Working closely with internal legal counsel and engaging and liaising with external counsel where required.
    • Reviewing and confirming satisfaction of all required finance documentation, including Conditions Precedent (requirements to be met before financing can be made available), Conditions Subsequent, legal registration and perfection requirements, policy requirements and approvals via formal handover confirmation to the Credit Risk Control (CRC) team for the approval and activation of client facilities and limits.
  • Responsible for Standard Documentation Process, where applicable, which includes:
    • Drafting and negotiating contractual, security and parental support documentation (such as parent company guarantees and support agreements) covering uncommitted and committed bilateral facilities in line with credit approvals.
    • Drafting and negotiating local and global guarantees within the region and for the wider Bank network.
    • Ensuring the financing structure and documentation is in compliance with the terms and spirit of the relevant credit approval and the Bank’s policies and procedures (including Operational Risk).
    • Setting and collating all condition precedent/subsequent documentation.
    • Engaging external counsel in relation to capacity and authority opinions and ensuring the review and sign-off of all legal opinions where required.
    • Drafting corporate resolutions and reviewing constitutional documentation.
    • Reviewing and confirming satisfaction of all required documentation, policy requirements and approvals via formal handover confirmation to the Credit Risk Control (CRC) team for the approval and activation of client facilities and limits.
  • Be a business partner to and independent guardian of the business, achieving the right balance.
  • Single point of contact for any transactional escalations and remediation contact.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure smooth integration of LDU processes with other processes of the Bank.
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in a similar finance documentation and transaction management role in the relevant market, enabling day-to-day responsibilities to be carried out with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-moving, demanding environment whilst maintaining high-quality output, strong analytical skills, a risk-based approach and excellent attention to detail. Strong organisational and prioritisation skills are essential.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills, able to effectively liaise with and develop close working relationships with stakeholders and business partners across various jurisdictions.
  • Good level of experience with international loan and security documentation standards, including:
    • Loan Market Association (LMA)
    • Loan Syndications and Trading Association (LSTA)
    • Asia Pacific Loan Market Association (APLMA)
  • Good level of knowledge of the Bank’s products, including Project & Export Finance, Leveraged & Acquisition Finance, Shipping Finance, Subscription Finance and Commercial Real Estate Finance, in relation to documentation.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Bank’s relevant policies and procedures.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate complex syndication and bilateral lending transactions and product structures.
  • Good knowledge of minimum acceptance criteria and collateral verification requirements.
  • Good knowledge of the Bank’s standard template documentation.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
