Qualifications

  • Skilled in conducting Thematic Risk Reviews and Root Cause Analysis to identify systemic issues and recommend sustainable solutions.
  • Proficient in leveraging data analytics to generate actionable insights for risk assessment and decision-making processes.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities with experience driving cross-functional collaboration and influencing senior management.
  • Excellent communication skills, adept at translating complex risk concepts into clear, actionable guidance and fostering a culture of transparency.
  • Education – a degree-level qualification in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related disciplines is essential.
  • Professional Training – Project Management qualifications and recognised risk management certifications (IRM, GRC) are highly desirable.
  • Certifications – Relevant risk management certifications demonstrating ongoing professional development enhance candidacy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the management of non-financial risks across Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Operations, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, monitored, and addressed effectively.
  • Partner with business leaders, process owners, and risk teams to strengthen controls and improve risk management practices.
  • Design and lead risk reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of processes, controls, and risk frameworks across different operational areas.
  • Identify emerging risks, industry trends, and regulatory developments, and recommend actions to mitigate potential impacts.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of operational issues, control weaknesses, and risk events, driving sustainable solutions and corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that improve risk culture, employee awareness, and conduct standards across the organisation.
  • Use data analytics and reporting to assess control effectiveness, identify trends, and provide actionable risk insights.
  • Prepare and communicate risk review findings, recommendations, and improvement plans to senior management and governance forums.
  • Lead and support cross-functional working groups focused on enhancing risk management and control effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with internal audit, assurance, compliance, and other oversight teams to coordinate reviews and address risk-related concerns.
  • Build, develop, and lead a team of risk professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support regulatory reviews and engagements, ensuring timely preparation of materials and effective management of regulatory and compliance matters.
