Job summary

KALE Recruitment is assisting an independent power producer to find a Lead Power Systems Engineer to take technical ownership of the electrical system for an offshore wind project through final design, construction, commissioning and first power.

You will lead power system studies, grid code compliance, and system integration, coordinating with turbines, substations, and the TSO to ensure energisation and commercial operation.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or a comparable field.
• Around 7–10 years in electrical engineering, ideally in power systems or renewables.
• Proven background in power system studies, electrical integration or grid compliance.
• Solid knowledge of connection agreements, grid codes and TSO requirements.
• Experience reviewing network models, studies, equipment data and supplier documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the finalisation and technical sign-off of studies for construction, commissioning and grid compliance.
• Critically review network models and study inputs against design and equipment data.
• Gather and validate technical data and simulation models from turbine, cable and substation suppliers.
• Assess study outputs including load flow, voltage control, dynamics and protection.
• Turn study findings into concrete actions and commissioning tests.
• Keep network models up to date as design evolves and deliver final validated models for compliance and handover.
• Track compliance with grid code, connection agreement and TSO requirements.
• Oversee compliance actions, evidence, simulations and test requirements.
• Coordinate with Grid Connection Manager and the TSO on commissioning, energisation and testing.
