Job summary

London Stock Exchange Group is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer / Solution Architect to shape and evolve our enterprise API Management Platform, a strategic capability that enables teams across the organisation to design, publish, discover, and consume APIs efficiently and securely.

This is a platform-as-a-product role focused on building scalable, self-service capabilities, improving developer experience, and driving consistency across a federated technology landscape.

Qualifications

• Experience designing internal platforms, shared services, or enterprise infrastructure capabilities.
• Strong understanding of API management concepts including gateways, traffic management, and lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of authentication and security patterns (OAuth, OpenID Connect, API security controls).
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
• Ability to balance scalability, maintainability, and developer experience in solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve the architecture of the API Management Platform for scalability, security, and adoption.
• Drive strategic evolution of core platform capabilities (API Gateway, Management, Discovery, DX services).
• Define reusable patterns, standards, and governance approaches across teams.
• Own runtime capabilities: authentication, authorization, traffic management, rate limiting, observability.
• Build self-service capabilities enabling API producers and consumers to onboard and integrate with minimal support.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to improve usability and adoption.
• Promote platform standards and governance without reducing developer productivity.
