Job summary

SoftServe is seeking a senior software engineer to design and modernize digital solutions for Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programmes. You will contribute to large-scale, multilingual systems used to manage programme and grant lifecycles in an international setting.

The role emphasizes full-stack development with Java, Angular, REST APIs, and cloud deployment using Docker and Kubernetes, with strong emphasis on security, performance, and collaboration across European teams.

Qualifications

• EQF Level 7 university degree and 15+ years in IT/full-stack engineering.
• 15+ years of hands-on Java and SQL experience, incl Spring Boot and Hibernate.
• 10+ years with Git and GitFlow; SVN knowledge.
• 5+ years with Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) and Angular; strong JS/HTML/CSS.
• 4+ years of Kafka and distributed application integration.
• 2+ years with high-volume public-sector grant systems and PM2‑Agile.
• 2+ years developing multilingual web apps with 10+ languages and reusable Angular components.
• REST API design, OpenAPI/Swagger, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT; Docker, Kubernetes; CI/CD; AWS or Azure.
• C1+ English; EU public administration experience; French and AWS/Azure certs advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable full-stack solutions using Java, Angular, databases, and REST APIs
• Build and maintain backend services and responsive front-end applications for high-volume, multilingual platforms
• Design secure APIs and system integrations, ensuring reliable communication across distributed services
• Develop database-centric functionality and optimize data access, queries, and application performance
• Apply security, testing, performance, and software engineering best practices throughout the development lifecycle
• Deploy and operate applications using cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Develop multilingual applications and reusable Angular components supporting consistent user experiences
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues, maintain technical documentation, and collaborate with international technical and business teams

Requirements

• EQF Level 7 university degree (typically a Master’s degree or five years of higher education) and 15+ years of professional IT/full-stack software engineering experience
• 15+ years of hands‑on experience with Java and SQL, including Spring Boot, Hibernate, database design, query optimization, and PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MongoDB
• 10+ years of experience with Git, including GitFlow or trunk‑based development, and knowledge of SVN
• 5+ years of experience with Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) and Angular, including strong JavaScript, HTML, and CSS skills
• 4+ years of experience with Kafka and distributed application integration
• 2+ years of experience with high‑volume public‑sector grant or funding management systems and PM2‑Agile methodology
• 2+ years of experience developing multilingual web applications localized into 10+ languages and reusable Angular component libraries such as eUI
• Strong experience with RESTful API design and security, OpenAPI/Swagger, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and AWS or Azure
• C1+ English proficiency; experience with EU institutional or public administration environments, French, and AWS/Azure developer certifications would be an advantage
