Job summary

Sabre Kraków is seeking a Lead Software Systems Engineer to drive the technical direction of a mission-critical platform, combining hands-on coding with leadership across a team, including AI-assisted development practices.

You will mentor engineers, design scalable services, collaborate with product managers and architects, and operate with a strong focus on reliability, security and performance within Sabre's global distribution ecosystem and hybrid work model in Kraków.

Qualifications

• Lead backend engineer with Java and modern frameworks (Spring Boot, Apache Camel).
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools for problem-solving and code optimization.
• Hands-on with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes (GKE) in production environments.
• Strong relational database and data modeling knowledge.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers, guide modernization, and shape architecture.
• Ability to validate AI outputs for correctness, security and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Use AI-assisted tools to explore solutions, optimize code and accelerate delivery.
• Lead design, development and delivery of core platform capabilities with reliability and performance.
• Mentor engineers and promote responsible AI-assisted development practices.
• Drive technical decisions and shape long-term platform architecture and modernization.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams to translate needs into robust solutions.
• Drive operational excellence across the platform, including monitoring and production support.
